Training and professional experience

I am a native English speaker from the UK and I hold a BA(Hons) in German Studies (2007) from the University of Sheffield, studying German and Dutch language and culture. I spent just short of 12 years working in-house for a translation agency in the UK before going freelance. Alongside a family background in German language and culture, I have spent time studying, living and working in Germany, the Netherlands and Flanders. A great deal of my current work is also for clients in Flanders.

I am a generalist as well as a technical specialist and can accept texts from a wide variety of sectors in both languages. I have completed courses in sciences with the Open University, and attended training in English law for translators. I have also undertaken training in post-editing and revising scientific texts in English. I carry out regular professional development on my own initiative and by attending workshops and events.

I have a wide range of experience in translation that also includes marketing copy for brands, tourist offices and public transport services, occupational health and safety, industrial/clinical procedures, and a range of HR materials. I also have personal interests in yoga (also teach), food and cookery. I am willing to take on most subjects in translation so please do get in touch with your project.
